University of Pittsburgh researchers have developed a web-based information system to facilitate community engagement and track outcomes.
Description
This information system offers a convenient way to track community engagement activities and allows for automatic analysis and summarization of collected data. This novel system is designed for multiple types of users, including client-facing users, program administrators, and system administrators. Salient features of this software are the ability to collect, store, analyze, and visualize data.
Applications
• Community engagement
• Data collection
Advantages
The current approaches to managing community engagement activities involve paper-based forms and simple Excel spreadsheets, which do not allow for the integration and analysis of the data generated. The novel features of this information system include a system that allows for the collection, management, and analysis of data from clients involved in community engagement activities. The system administration also has the ability to review the outcome of these activities and make decisions accordingly. The researchers believe that implementing this system will improve the final results of community engagement efforts.
Invention Readiness
This software has performed internal demonstrations of the system to faculty in the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Pharmacy, and leaders at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Psychiatric Hospital.
