University of Pittsburgh researchers have developed CM4StUD, an innovative approach to modernizing contingency management for addiction treatment. Contingency management is a psychosocial intervention that rewards positive behavior with high-value awards. Despite its effectiveness, implementation is often hindered by cost and lack of insurance coverage. CM4StUD aims to overcome these barriers by creating an open-source application that can be used by addiction treatment programs worldwide. A live pilot at CPCDS of WPH in Oakland will demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this approach.
Description
CM4StUD leverages an open-source application to modernize and scale contingency management. This approach allows addiction treatment programs to implement evidence-based interventions without the high costs associated with traditional methods. The application will facilitate meaningful participation from individuals outside of Pittsburgh, expanding the reach and impact of contingency management.
Applications
• Addiction treatment programs
• Psychosocial interventions
• Behavioral health research
• Community health initiatives
Advantages
CM4StUD offers several advantages by reducing the implementation costs of contingency management and providing an open-source solution accessible to various addiction treatment programs. It facilitates participation from individuals outside of Pittsburgh, enhancing the scalability and effectiveness of contingency management interventions.
Invention Readiness
The concept of CM4StUD is developed, and a live pilot is planned at CPCDS of WPH in Oakland.
