Comprehensive and Equitable Cardiovascular Health Risk Assessment Tool

This invention is a comprehensive questionnaire designed to assess cardiovascular health risk. Its most significant advantage is its ability to address ethnic disparities in risk prediction, providing a more effective assessment for diverse populations, including African American and Hispanic individuals.

Description

This technology is a 31-item cardiovascular health risk assessment questionnaire that evaluates multiple domains of health. It includes demographic, lifestyle, medical history, family history, psychosocial, and environmental factors. A key feature is its ability to incorporate population-specific risk stratification to address the critical gap where existing risk assessments primarily work for European populations but are less effective for African American and Hispanic populations. The tool also incorporates novel elements like assessing gratitude practices, age-specific exercise evaluation, environmental exposure screening, and comprehensive biomarker collection. The questionnaire's design is evidence-based, drawing from a systematic review of population genetics literature, and is implemented on a digital platform for clinical use.

Applications

- Cardiology clinics and hospitals for patient risk assessment.
- Public health organizations and researchers for studying cardiovascular health in diverse populations.
- Telemedicine platforms for remote health screenings.
- Wellness and corporate health programs.
- Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies for clinical trial stratification.

Advantages

- Addresses ethnic disparities
- Comprehensive evaluation
- Unique factors considered
- Enhanced risk stratification
- Evidence-based design

Invention Readiness

The prototype is a copyrightable text and an initial survey was conducted using Google Forms to demonstrate its feasibility. Further studies would involve full-scale clinical implementation and validation of the population-specific risk algorithms.
