Small Animal Model for Emesis Testing

Description

The musk shrew (Suncus murinus) is a small mammal (40 to 80 g) that can be used for testing antiemetic drug candidates and emetic liabilities of other drug classes. This model is sensitive to motion, chemotherapy, anesthesia, and many other emetic stimuli. Unlike other small mammals, such as rats and mice, these animals have a vomiting reflex.
